Theatre Atchison's Youth
More Than a Performance
Youth theatre is about creating experiences that help young people grow both on and off the stage. Students gain confidence, strengthen communication skills, build friendships, learn teamwork, and discover new talents in a creative and supportive environment. Whether a child dreams of being in the spotlight or simply wants to try something new, there is a place for everyone. More than 70% of our students return for future programs; a reflection of the lasting friendships, memorable experiences, and love for theatre that continue long after the curtain closes.
Our Mission
To serve people through the theatre arts by providing opportunities for artistic growth and development. We strive to achieve this mission with fiscal, artistic, and ethical responsibility.
Youth Programs
After School Players

The After School Players program gives students entering grades 2–8 two opportunities to explore theatre in a fun and encouraging environment while building valuable life skills along the way.
Through auditions, rehearsals, and performances, students strengthen confidence, public speaking, teamwork, creativity, and communication skills, while making new friends and creating lasting memories.
Fall auditions take place in September with performances in October. Spring auditions take place in January with performances in February. Registration is $35 and includes an exciting hands-on theatre experience that extends far beyond the stage.
Summerstage 2nd-5th

Our SummerStage program for students entering grades 2–5 is a fun and engaging introduction to the world of theatre while helping develop valuable life skills.
During this three-week June program, students build confidence, strengthen reading and public speaking skills. Participants experience the full theatre process by auditioning, rehearsing a production, and taking part in theatrical exercises designed to strengthen core performance skills.
Students will perform one show each Wednesday and Thursday, help strike the set on Friday, and learn important theatre responsibilities such as following direction, caring for props and costumes, and practicing backstage etiquette.
Each participant will also receive a SummerStage T-shirt and leave with memories, friendships, and skills that extend far beyond the stage
